Elmo's Healthy Heroes- Sesame Street Live

It's Madison's special day. This afternoon we took Madison to see Elmo's Healthy Heroes at Sprint Center in Kansas City. We had pre-show tickets that allowed us to meet and greet (an hour before the show) some of the characters, the characters were Bert and Ernie.

Madison was shy at first, then started to warm up the the characters and even told them "bye friends." After the meet and greet we headed to our seats, which were in the first row. Madison (we) were able to sing, dance, interact with characters and watch the show. Madison even danced with Grundgetta (Grounch's girlfriend). The whole time she had a huge smile on her face.

Madison

The weather here is 6 degrees and the sidestreets and sidewalks are still a bit icy and snow packed. This morning our our walk into CernerKids Madison said, "Mommy, be careful it's slick." Then said, "Hand," meaning hold my hand. It just melted my heart. Thank you Madison!

Happy belated holiday...

Sorry for my delay in posting our holiday fun and activities. We spent Christmas in Nebraska with our family. Madison was in full force as she "helped" everyone open their gifts. Parker enjoyed posing for the camera. We had a wonderful holiday!

Holiday Expressions

Some of the comments or sounds we heard over the Holiday Weekend...

  • Madison was eating a pretzel and Grandma R asked her if she knew what shape it was. Madison paused for a second thinking about the question. When Grandma R said it was a circle, Madison respond "NO GRANDMA! IT'S AN OVAL!"
  • Grandma R "Parker looks like he's posing for PlayGirl". (I wonder how mom knows that.... but yea, Parker was posing on his side all weekend.)
  • Madison "Parker touched the tree". Jen "Where did he touch the tree Madison?" Madison points to the top of the tree.
  • "He looks just like Leroy", overheard at Jay Hanson's house when talking about Parker
  • "He's such a happy little boy", Grandma H before we left their house and listened to Parker scream for 20 minutes. For the record, when Parker wants to sleep, eat or poop, he screams. Otherwise, he's a quiet kid.
  • Row Row Row Your Boat, Take me out to the Ball Game, Itsy Bitsy Spider, Old McDonald, Twinkle Twinkle, and all the theme songs to her favorite Nick Jr. show - Madison over and over again throughout the Holiday's
  • "Did Madison touch the tree?" "Yes Daddy" "Is Madison suppose to touch the tree""No Daddy""So why did Madison touch the tree?" Madison smiles and touches the tree again.
  • "I open Parker's presents", Madison.
  • Jen's thoughts on our date night Sunday, "I'm not sure what to do with all this silence". Darin's response, "I feel like sleeping".
  • "Madison likes to challenge you", Grandpa R after we returned from our date night.
  • Jen, "Did you wake up Parker?" Madison, "yes". "Why did you do that Madison?" "Because he was sleeping!"

San Diego here we come

The flights are booked...

The hotel is reserved...

The tickets are on their way...

The Rezacs are headed to the Holiday Bowl.

We've debated about going or not this year. All season long we talked about going to the bowl game. We saved some money and looked at it as a mini-vacation. But when the bowl opponent was announced, we paused. It has nothing to do with our respect for the Huskies, but rather Jen and I traveled to Seattle earlier this year. We've seen Nebraska play Washington and we'll see them again in September. It was a big thud to our plans. This last week was a back and forth between going and not going. In the end, Jen has never been to San Diego. We could go to Sea World and enjoy the city. I also think this cold spell helped influence our decision.

So we are going... to warmer San Diego to watch our favorite team play the Holiday Bowl. We can't wait.

Always having fun...

Thought we'd share some weekend pictures with you. The kiddos sure keep us busy. Madison has discovered her inner diva..bracelets, purse and a brush are a must. Parker enjoys watching his sister and screams in delight. Madison thought Parker needed a check up, everything is in working order. Grandma H made Madison's holiday dress and Parker watched Madison again.

CernerKids holiday party

Today was the CernerKids holiday party. Last year, Madison had nothing to do with Santa, however she loved the Elf who read to her. So we figured this year might be different as the Santa provided the kids with a book. Well it was time for Madison and Parker to visit Santa, Parker was on Santa's lap and Madison had nothing to do with it. She said, "No, No." So needless to say Parker and I were in the picture. Madison still received her book.

Wonderful moments..

Last Saturday during the Nebraska vs. Iowa State football game, I thought I heard Parker start to say, "MaMa...MaMa." Well this morning, to my excitement he said it again! He has been saying, "Dada...Dada" for weeks, which is great. However, it was nice to hear my name! Then this morning, he was reaching for an object and started to crawl forward. He is growing so fast. It's exciting to see all of the changes.

For Madison, she just loves telephones and could start a conversation with anything or anyone. This morning, she was talking to her teachers Ms. Nikki and Ms. Teresa and said, "Hello Nikki, Nikki, Nikki, What's up? How are you? Okay, Bye" She did the same for Ms. Teresa. Oh the fun!

Madison and Parker were playing together and one of Parker's toys bumped into Madison. She said, "No thank you Parker, I don't like that." (In addition, her arm was extented with her hand to his face.) Then with her index finger (shaking it), she said, "Parker, No, No, No!"

Halloween 2010

Below are some pictures from our Halloween weekend 2010. Madison and Parker had a very busy weekend with Grandma and Grandpa Hanson in town. The kids had fun playing with each other and destroying the house. Madison really enjoyed dressing up in her princess outfit (it was actually a tinkerbell costume) but Parker wasn't sure what to think. We mostly got looks of "are you serious?". On Sunday we took the kids trick-or-treating. We stuck to a couple of blocks and Madison liked the idea of ringing door bells to get candy. It was just too bad Jen ate most of hers...

The last 4 pictures are from Cerner Kids on the Thursday before Halloween. School had a Halloween parade for the kids and as you can tell, the kids enjoyed the day.
